Another Heating Season has begun
While there has been some powerful storms, temperatures have remained warmer than usual so far with only a few frosty nights. The price of heating oil has remained quite low since the beginning of the fall. The same has happened with the Biofuel ( B-100) part of our Bioheat, home heating oil. This dip in price is keeping us competitive with regular old #2 fuel oil. We are experiencing a steady growth notably amoung our existing customers who wish to retain our services but last year were already committed to a plan with another oil company. We also have many new customers signing up because they are interested in a cleaner burning alternative that is better for their equipment. The biggest draw back is still education. I’m still suprised by how many people still think they need to modify their equipment or have to change something to burn Bioheat in their existing indoor tank and oil burner! With the World Wide Web, never has the ability for the consumer ever been easier to research credible information and form a knowledgeable opinion. Of course all information is subject to bias and omission, so dig deep and learn.
More soon,
George Haselton

No commentsEnd of summer
Welcome to the Harvest Fuels Website. Here we are in the prime days of peak summer, who wants to think about the upcoming winter and heating fuel! Soon school will be open and we will start “hunkering down” for another Maine winter. Due to the steady rise for a barrel of oil and the efforts to increase distribution of the many alternative fuel sources, our phones have been ringing more than this time last year. We have been busy this summer completing our new storage and blending facility which will simplify our logistics by allowing us to store B100 (100% biofuel) right here and mixing with locally obtained #2 oil. More exciting news is the many new biofuel sources that will soon be on line here in Maine. Our goal is to use only Maine produced product whenever possible. Not only will this have positive impact on the cost, but it is good for our state economy.
Besides selling B20 for heating oil this summer, we have also been supplying fuel to boats, private and commercial, in Rockland, Belfast and Camden. Check out Biodiesel for Maine’s web site, go to the newsletter for summer 2006 for more information on our marine customers.
No commentsAbout BioHeat tm
BioHeatTM by Harvest Fuels is heating oil for all uses.
Bio HeatTM is a cleaner-burning replacement fuel made from natural, renewable, agricultural resources (such as soybeans). Clean, efficient and with less harmful emissions than petroleum based heating oil, BioHeatTM will help the environment and keep your heating system running more efficiently than ever.
The Primary benefits of heating with BioHeatTM include:
- Reduces imports of foreign oil
- A renewable energy source
- Grown and refined in the USA
- Much cleaner burning than #2 fuel oil
- Healthier for your family and the environment
- Supports our local economy and America’s farmers
- Requires no system modifications
- Involves less routine maintenance
- The cost is competitive with #2 home heating oil
Bioheat™ is the name for biodiesel when it is used for heating oil. As in biodiesel when it is used in transportation fuel, it is a premium product due to its superior lubricity which helps reduce equipment wear and premature breakdown. In addition, since this fuel is cleaner burning, there are fewer deposits to build up on the walls of your heat exchanger which leads to better heat transfer and therefore better efficiency.
You can use BioHeatTM without any modifications or changes to your heating oil system or tank. It is readily mixable with your existing oil so you can switch now with no down time or added expense.
Maine’s Capital Building, Governor’s Mansion and State offices are heated with BioHeatTM.
Use of B-20 BioHeat TM reduces your personal dependence on foreign heating oil by 20%
Message To Our Valued First Year Customers
Thank-you for supporting Harvest Fuels in our first year! This spring oil prices have been higher than ever before and given the many global and domestic factors it is hard to predict what the prices will do. That being said we have done our very best to secure enough gallons at the lowest prices we could given the volatility of the market and the size of our company.
A lot has been happening here at Harvest Fuels. We have a new(er) truck and Ol’ Yeller will become our back-up truck. Our addition, where we will be able to store and mix BioHeat is nearing completion. We will have a new look to our invoices and fuel tickets soon, as well as a website which will link you to many informative BioDiesel sites. Most importantly, we will continue to deliver fuel and service your heating systems with care and attention to the environment.
Please contact us if you would like us to send you pre-buy agreement for next heating season. If you have any questions or need your BioHeat gallon usage from last year please call us at 236-4172.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Eliza Haselton
